Abitare precario

Giovani e non-più-giovani che decidono di vivere in affitto con consorte, partner, amici o anche estranei a Milano. Una città attrattiva per molte persone provenienti dall’estero e da varie parti d’Italia, ma, come si sa, piuttosto costosa. La mancanza di una discreta disponibilità economica o di una posizione lavorativa stabile è un limite all’accesso al mutuo e spinge molti cittadini milanesi (d’origine o d’acquisizione) a vivere in affitto. La motivazione economica non è l’unica, però, in grado di spiegare questa scelta. Precario, infatti, non significa soltanto insicuro, instabile e problematico, ma anche momentaneo, provvisorio, transitorio. Abitare in affitto può significare dover affrontare diversi problemi, come quelli di convivenza, di relazione col padrone di casa o di costi mensili molto (troppo) elevati, ma il “vivere temporaneo” ha anche i suoi pregi. Per i protagonisti di questa ricerca foto-sociologica (condotta nel 2010-2011), vivere in affitto è possibilità di conoscere gente nuova e di avere la libertà di decidere del proprio futuro. Affitto e coabitazione sono quindi croce e delizia per chi si trova in questa condizione abitativa. Attraverso diversi ritratti fotografici entreremo non solo in casa, ma anche nel mondo di questa variegata popolazione urbana.

Precarious living

Young and no-longer- young people who decide to rent a house with their family,partner , friends or even strangers in Milan. An attractive city for many people coming from abroad and from various parts of Italy , but, as you know, quite expensive. The lack of a decent disposable income or a stable employment position is a limit to the access to mortgage and leads many citizens of Milan (for origin or acquisition ) to rent a house. The economic motivation is not the only which can explain this choice. “Precarious” , in fact, does not mean just insecure, unstable and problematic, but also momentary, temporary, transitory. Renting a house may mean having to face various problems, such as cohabitation, relationship with the landlord or monthly costs (too) high, but the “temporary living” also has its merits . For the protagonists of this photo-sociological research (conducted in 2010-2011), living in rent is an opportunity to know new people and to have the freedom to decide their own future. Rent and cohabitation are then mixed blessing for those who find themselves in this housing situation. Through several photographic portraits will enter not only in the house but also in the world of this diverse urban population.
